This beautiful set of 2 ammonite objects with vintage brass finish, represent Perisphinctes ammonite fossils. Ammonites were prehistoric sea animals with a coiled shell. They became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, about 66 million years ago, about the same time that the dinosaurs disappeared. The objects are each mounted on a gray marble base.
